The Great Motherlode Brass and Reed Band was founded by Professor John Borowitz over 25 years ago as a re-creation of a turn of the century band. He had a number of period instruments, and we played no music more recent than 1910, performing in outdoor concerts, particularly for events at Columbia State Park. Over the years the band morphed into a contemporary community band under several different conductors.  We draw our players from Tuolumne, Calaveras, and Amador counties.  We've always been a summer band, typically meeting May to September.
